Responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams of technical personnel to evaluate, design, and implement projects to improve process efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and safety. Principal participate in all phases of assigned projects including initial planning, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and release. Act as a liaison with all relevant staff, contractors, suppliers, and others to coordinate work.

  • Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from a four year college or university in an Engineering discipline and 6 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Creates automation and machine design requirements including 3D drawing design, wiring, programming, safety features and sourcing. Troubleshoots and diagnoses design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies to proactively recommend revisions and/or improvements.

  • Lead project teams to produce products and processes and train other engineers and technical staff. Tracks project budgets and schedules and makes adjustments as needed to reach goals. Creates and delivers all required/requested project status reports. Utilizes lean tools such as SCRUM, LSS, TPS, TIE and Fail Fast to manage teams, define projects and identify improvement areas.

  • Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications. Pilots prototypes and scale-up prototypes to test for manufacturing and quality issues.

  • Experience in the start-upand scale-up of high volume production, with an emphasison ergonomic design,yield improvement, labor and cost reduction.

  • Experience with electromechanical systems, in automating sorting, assembly, and testing processes.

  • Experience evaluating a process' efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and safety using lean tools and experience with 6-Axis robotics programming/integration experience.

  • Develop mechanical/electronic controls integrating assembly stations, 6 axis handling devices and conveyance devices.

  • Experience with electromechanical systems, in automating sorting, assembly, and testing processes.

  • Understanding of Sensors, Robotics, Complex Mechanical designs and various controls for automated systems

  • Working knowledge of inventory tracking software (e.g. AS400/BPCS). SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, ProPlanner, WINCAPS, PLC programming (ladder logic and text), HMI development, automation devices sourcing and integration, debugging systems at an advanced level. Intermediate knowledge of Python, Java, or another acceptable general programming language deployable to PCs for data aggregation and analysis as well as prototyping and simulation. Proficient in PLC programming (Ladder Logic and Structured Text) and HMI development.

  • A Certificate in DENSO TIE or Toyota TPS training.

  • Ability to speak, read, and write in Japanese a plus but not required.

  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
