Profit Planning Manager

Duties & Responsibilities:

This role is locatedin Battle Creek, Michigan and exists within our Thermal Americas Center. The position is directly responsible forconsolidated Business Planning/Profit Planning for DENSO Manufacturing Michigan(DMMI is the headquarters for Thermal Americas Center). The successfulcandidate will lead a team of 4 analysts, and have responsibility for allaspects of target setting, plan making, forecasting, and monthly analysis. Thisrole is expected to interact heavily with senior leadership, and will acts asthe right hand to the company president. There is also high exposure to our thermalexecutive team in NA. As such, there are opportunities for rapid growth andcareer development, coupled with very high expectations for accountability andresults delivery. Key activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development of annual and mid-term profit plans at DMMI(act as support to multiple manufacturing plants as expert & primary leaderof parent company).

  • This includes the establishment of the mid-term plan, annual &revised operating plans, target setting, budget process facilitation, costaccounting, standard costing, BOM/WIP Management, and capital expenditures(investment budget), and

  • Partner with accounting team to deliver a smooth close, work tocondense from 5 days to 4 days through operational efficiency

  • Conduct profit analysis – both historical and forecasted – toidentify actual or forecasted gaps to plan. Establish & introducecountermeasures for performance gaps

  • Work with related departments to monitor performance & achievecost targets

  • Analyze profit levels by customer, division, and product. Identifyareas for improvement within our current portfolio.

  • Find new ways to grow profitability and reduce costs
  • Identify major trends (inside and outside of the company, economicor industry wide) that might be insightful for internal stakeholders, and coulddrive business advancement


  • Advanced degree (MBA, CPA, CMA, or similar)
  • Experience in launching advanced financial systems
  • Working comfort with AS400, Hyperion, SQL, BI tools, etc..
  • Prior experience within automotive, especially a major tier-1supplier

  • Advanced degree (MBA, CPA, CMA or other)
  • Spanish fluency would be an asset, but not required

Minimum Requirements:
  • 8-10 years' experience in afinancial area (or related discipline), with

  • 3 in a leadership position(preference given to complex, global manufacturing)

  • Prior background in aposition which is similar to either Profit Planning or Cost Planning

  • Bachelor's degree inbusiness, finance, accounting, engineering, or operations

  • Must have background ofrecommending improvements which yield measurable results

  • Able to communicateeffectively at all levels of the organization
