Production Engineer

Position is located in Statesville, NC

Individual is responsible for planning, development, and supervision of projects requiring intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices. They must be able to manage all aspects of Lean manufacturing principles, controls engineering, statistical problem solving techniques, and prepare and establish budgets to support cost down initiatives.

Major Responsibilities:
• Process Capability and Capacity Planning
• Determine Future Equipment requirements and capable of writing machine specifications (SOR) Statement of requirements
• Assist with evaluating potential vendors, equipment makers, and services to meet required specifications. Understand contracts and be able to negotiate capital investments.
• Investigate in-house manufacturing problems and recommend countermeasures. Understand reduction in standard variation
• Research, develop, and test long term improvement ideas.
• Generate reports to clearly explain issues and / or results.
• Ability to read, trouble shoot, edit, and write PLC Ladder Logic with experience in Omron.
• Working with Robotics, Vision Systems, and Laser Programming required.
• Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and able to demonstrate.
• Insure documentation meets IATF16949 and ISO9001. Must clearly demonstrate discipline in process of control plans, PFMEA, and work instructions.
• Maintain good working relationships with team members and cross functional stakeholders.
• Project Management – coordinate, schedule, and execute individual and multi-departmental projects plans, including full line implementation and start up.
• Must have good communication skills both verbal and written. Must understand quantitative and qualitative accuracy.

• Requires 4yr college Engineering degree and strong previous experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Must have training in statistical problem solving (including 5WHY, fishbone, 5M, minitab). Note: Must have certificates of training or attend classes within one year of hire date.

• Must have investigative and analytical skills in order to evaluate and make recommendations.
• Must have a working knowledge of all standard engineering principles.

Physical Requirements:
• Requires constant standing 8-12 hours per day
• Must be able to constantly lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and kneel.
• Must be able to apply up to 66 lbs push/pull force unassisted.
• Must be able to reach overhead.
