Logistics Team Leader

Job Summary:
  • Provides front line leadership to associates to maintain appropriate operation levels while ensuring safety, quality and process standards.
  • Responsible for daily shift preparation which includes setting the staffing plan, reviewing schedule and pass-down information.
  • Facilitates daily team meetings and monitors conditions to ensure appropriate processes are applied to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Tracks shift performance, updates departmental documents, tracks associate attendance, completes evaluations, and provides development through coaching.
  • Provides countermeasures and analysis to improve production efficiency and medium-term planning activities.
  • Coordinate and negotiate with support groups to ensure effective problem solving and to mitigate production downtime.

Essential Duties & Responsibilites:
  1. Maintain associate records including time and attendance, overtime tracking, training, performance evaluations, and discipline documentation.
  1. Ensure effective communication between shifts by reviewing pass-down logs and email correspondence and take corrective actions if gap exists.
  1. Maintain quality standards between shifts utilizing operation manual sheets (OMS) and initiating improvement of jigs and tools.
  1. Support root cause analysis and defect judgment for in-process defects and initiate communication of results and countermeasures to related members.
  1. Enforce strong DNA principles by maintaining QA net creation, leading Rank-up activities, creation and maintenance of OMS procedures, monthly standardized work adjustments, and application of the DENSO job instruction (DJ-I) method.
  1. Ensure efficient production line operation by confirming any material imbalances, in-process inventory levels, adjustment of staffing levels, and conducting process improvement meetings
  1. Utilize and maintain visual control charts and mechanisms including KPI charts, Kaizen plans, and in house loss or scrap (IHL) documents.
  1. Support Kaizen circles across shifts and facilitate activity as necessary.
  1. Conduct communication meetings across shifts to share information and analyze all information gathered from associates or on the production floor to share with Leadership Chain members.
  1. Ensure that primary information about safety incidents is shared with Leadership Chain and Safety & Health department.
  1. Support initial investigation for root cause of quality defects and conduct deeper investigation to implement countermeasures and lead yokonorami (transfer to other lines) efforts and abnormality reports.
  1. Respond to parts shortages by evaluating root cause and develop countermeasures to prevent future occurrences.
  1. Support machine downtime recovery efforts by contacting necessary support members and review the breakdown maintenance (BM) details to identify improvement activities.
  1. Support new product trials by effectively preparing materials and conducting sample inspection.
  1. Maintain monthly process performance by maintaining adherence to standards and creating improvement plans based on process measurement analysis.
  1. Support annual planning process by preparing and submitting expense summaries.
  1. Assigndaily tasks / projects to a Logistics Expert and be able to recognize where support is needed within the department.
  1. Must be able to support the department with daily and weekend overtimewhen production and project support is required.



High school diploma or completion of high school equivalence exam required

Work Experience:

2+ years' ofmanagement experience in a professional work environment.

Experience creating OMS, standardized work, material flow and route planning for logistics and conveyance routes.

Skills & Abilities:
  1. Ability to quickly learn department procedures and terms
  1. Ability to learn and comprehend basic instruction and understand the meaning of Denso terminology
  1. Perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly
  1. Must be able to work daily and weekend overtime as required
  1. Good organizational skills and time management
  1. Ability to learn basic computer skills (excel, word, powerpoint, etc)
