Responsibilities will include managing larger and/or more complex purchases and suppliers that have higher impact on the organization's products, processes and budget. Developing and implementing procurement plans and strategies to support forecasted needs for commodities. Establish and implement strategies for negotiating commodity purchase agreements based on in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets for optimum pricing and terms. Ability to analyze unit pricing in order to validate price quotations and to support strategic cost reduction activity. Purchase commodities in accordance with approved buying programs, using trade judgment in implementation and/or the established procurement policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field and 5-8 years of relevant experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Manage larger and/or more complex purchases and suppliers that have higher impact on the organization's products, processes and budget.

  • Interpret inventory targets, production schedules, purchase requisitions, orders, and other documents to coordinate purchasing activities with the organization's current and anticipated demand for goods and materials.

  • Develop and implements procurement plans and strategies to support forecasted needs for commodities.

  • Establish and implement strategies for negotiating commodity purchase agreements based on in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets for optimum pricing and terms.

  • Lead projects related to new supplier selection involving cross-functional team members.

  • Conduct forecasting and development of financial plans to support management with monitoring contribution to company's profit situation. Creates and presents reports to management.

  • Recommend and implements quality improvements and process efficiencies.

  • Act an advisor or mentor to junior professionals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Level of Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Knowledge of Purchasing procedures and terms

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain fundamentals

  • Strong cost analysis skill

  • Ability to calculate mathematical figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and good presentation skills

  • Advanced level of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Project management skills

  • Advanced analytical skills

  • Strong customer service and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team and to transfer knowledge to less experienced Buyers

Typically, the position exerts up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move an inanimate object. Visual requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision. Physical requirements include standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Position work environment is typically indoors in pleasant, well-lighted area with comfortable temperatures and in a controlled environment where no significant amounts of dust, fumes or odors.
